In 2005, my NHS career commenced when I qualified as an adult gynaecology nurse. I then decided to convert over into the world of midwifery a year later and qualified in 2008.
In 16 years of practicing as a midwife, I can honestly say that my desire and passion to help and support new parents has only flourished. I have been a tongue-tie specialist midwife working in the NHS for the past 6 years, performing frenulotomies for many babies in Gloucestershire. I thoroughly enjoy this role and wanted to further develop my knowledge and skills in infant feeding which was when I decided to undertake the IBCLC course.
Having breastfed both of my daughters, I navigated many hurdles such as thrush, tongue tie, jaundice and weight loss. We eventually turned a corner and had a wonderful breastfeeding journey, with them naturally self-weaning at 3 and 4 years of age. I understand the struggles breastfeeding mothers face from both a personal and a professional standpoint, this is what has inspired me to do all I can to help and support new mothers.
Having worked hard over the past 2 years to complete many modules and sit a 4 hour exam, I was thrilled to become an international board certified lactation consultant.
I want to reach out and support parents, who feel they are not receiving the advice, support and recommendations that everyone deserves. I can empathise with you as well as share my specialist knowledge and skills in an unhurried and caring manner in the comfort of your own home.
*From May 2023- I am now offering private tongue tie divisions.

My philosophy
Face to Face Home Visits
In the comfort of your own home.
Provide a warm, caring and non-judgmental listening ear.
I will observe, advise, offer recommendations based on the latest evidence based practice, support you with your infant feeding issues and together, we will try to rectify your difficulties.
If I suspect a tongue tie, I can perform a full oral assessment for your baby with your consent. If a tongue tie division is recommended, I will first offer to refer your baby into the NHS clinic.
Follow up consultation at home.
Providing ongoing advice and support to enable you to have a happy and healthy feeding journey with your baby.
* Please note for all face to face appointments both client and consultant must be free of symptoms linked to COVID-19.
Virtual consultation discussing your needs and finding solutions to help you achieve your feeding goal.
Please note:
I am unable to assess your baby’s mouth and tongue virtually. If you are concerned that your baby may have a tongue tie, I would strongly recommend a face to face appointment.
* Please be aware virtual consultations have limitations
Home Visit:
Lactation Consultation and Tongue Tie Division
This includes a holistic feeding assessment, observation, advice, recommendations, division and ongoing feeding support for 1 month via phone/email.
Additional follow up appointments are charged at £50.
If a tongue tie does not require division but a full lactation consultation and tongue tie assessment has been performed, the fee is reduced to £110.
I have been running the Gloucestershire NHS Tongue Tie service for the past 6 years. I have decided to offer a private service as I understand and appreciate the wait for an appointment may be too long to wait when parents are keen to overcome the difficulties they are experiencing.
I will assess your baby's tongue, mouth and palate and discuss the findings with you. I will be open and honest based on my professional judgement and experience as to whether I believe a tongue tie division would be beneficial, or whether we could implement some additional feeding support to see if this rectifies the situation.
I am a member of the ATP
Please be aware, I will not be able to divide a tongue tie if your baby has NOT had any Vitamin K.
The injection of 1mg or at least 1 oral dose of 2mg is required more than 1 day before a frenulotomy.
